God’s Church does not exist for itself. We have been created, reconciled, and purposed for something beyond us. Together, we must embrace the call God has given us as witnesses and partners in His mission to redeem the world.
Here at ROCKHARBOR Mission Viejo, that means joining God in what He’s doing in our neighborhoods, our cities, orphan care and our world. It means discovering the unique passions and talents created in us and using them to showcase His love to the world around us.
We believe that following Jesus means to live for the sake of the world. Living out the Gospel always involves faith that is in motion. Our desire is to create a community of Christ-followers that carries the kingdom of God into it’s surrounding neighborhoods.
“We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making His appeal through us.” 2 Corinthians 5:20
“If anyone has material possessions and sees his brother in need but has no pity on him, how can the love of God be in him? Dear children, let us not love with words or tongue but with actions and in truth.” 1 John 3:17-18
Along with serving our local cities we want to be on a mission in our everyday life. A huge way we can do that is by loving and serving our literal neighbor. This year we will have a monthly challenge on how we can step out and be Jesus to our neighbors. Look for the monthly calendar in the bulletin to see this month’s challenge. We also have a team that will help meet needs of those within and outside our RHMV community. Some people need extra help moving, needing meals or transportation to medical appointments and don’t have anyone to help them do those things. We will do our best to help meet those needs. If you want to be a part of this care team or know someone who can benefit from it please email Sharon Genton.
We have four partnerships that we have throughout our local cities. These partnerships allow us to serve in ways we might not normally serve and are meeting specific needs we see around us.
“Defend the cause of the weak and fatherless; maintain the rights of the poor and oppressed. Rescue the weak and needy; deliver them from the hand of the wicked.” Psalm 82:3-4
We have many different ways that we are trying to live out this verse at ROCKHARBOR Mission Viejo. We believe even if you don’t permanently bring an orphan into your home there is still a role for you to play in the lives of orphans.
Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” Matthew 28:18-20
ROCKHARBOR is invested in global causes and organizations around the world. Whether it is through financial giving from First Fruits or teams being sent out to different countries, we want to be a church that continues to think, pray, and invest in the global church as well as reaching others that have never heard of Jesus.
