Discipleship

Our aim is to grow closer to Jesus -and to walk alongside others in this relationship. A primary way this happens is through prayer and reading God’s Word.

Stay tuned for more info. We are excited to share our heart with you about what’s happening at ROCKHARBOR Mission Viejo.

Bible

At RHMV we give a continual encouragement to be reading Scripture daily.  We offer various reading plans and methods, and for 2016, in particular, we are encouraging everyone who calls RHMV home to read through the Bible in a year.  We realize this is a big goal, and that is why we are providing a reading plan for everyone to use together.  Hopefully, this will allow us all to stay on track and learn from God together.

ONE YEAR BIBLE available on Amazon, Kindle, and Nook.

You can also pick up a copy of the One Year Bible on our patio table!

Prayer

Each year we have a corporate focus on one area of our discipleship (BIBLE, PRAYER, or SABBATH).  Though we want to stay in rhythm and practice each of these areas of our faith ongoing, we will focus on one a bit more than the others each year.  This year, we will be highlighting prayer.  Go to the Discipleship table or email Brian Hill to get more details and explore all the ways we are diving into prayer this year as a campus!

Prayer Nights

Join us for corporate Prayer & Worship the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, & 4th Wednesday evenings of the month. Our weekly prayer nights at the Pala building happen on Wednesday nights at 7pm. Each week varies in how we pray and the theme for the night.

1st Wednesday | Prophetic prayer (practice hearing and praying God’s heart)

2nd Wednesday | Intercessory prayer (practice praying for people and other concerns around the world)

3rd Wednesday | Worship prayer (lots of singing and ministry prayer)

4th Wednesday | Healing prayer (practice praying and receiving physical/emotional/spiritual healing)

**Note: There is no prayer night on the 5th Wednesday of the month.

Sabbath & Sabbaticals

Rhythms of Rest

We all recognize that we are busy people. We also agree that that it is healthy to slow down from time to time. But, what if we built rest into every week? What if we set aside intentional time to ask God, “How do you want me to spend today?”

This year, we are encouraging everyone at RHMV to participate in a weekly Sabbath and a one-time sabbatical. We are encouraging you to ask The Lord how you’d spend the day. Would it include serving someone, going on a hike, taking a nap, going on a prayer walk around your neighborhood, or countless other things? We know this is a challenge with professional deadlines, family responsibilities, and all the other events that compete for our attention and time, so we want to help.

  • We have books available to purchase that will give you ideas and encouragement for how to build in Sabbath rest into your week.
  • Sign up to have a sabbatical built just for you. We will design a time based on your schedule and the ways you personally hear from God. You can go away for a day, a weekend, a week or more.
  • Meet with one of our community pastors to talk about how to slow down and give Jesus more say in you week.

For more information about any of these topics or to build a sabbatical, contact Brian.
