First and foremost, God leads ROCKHARBOR Mission Viejo as Jesus is the head of His Church [Col 1:18]. Sounds like the obvious answer…but this simple statement informs our posture in leadership. In essence, our leaders’ role is to seek God, to see where He is moving, to follow Him, and to bring others with them.
The Campus Pastor
RH Mission Viejo is directed and led by Campus Pastor Chad Halliburton. Chad joined the RH team in 1999 by the way of Arts, then joined the teaching team in 2008 before stepping into the call to raise up a community in Mission Viejo. Together with his wife Jenn, Chad serves on the elder board and seeks God’s direction for the Mission Viejo campus as a whole.
The Team Model
One thing we’ve learned is that ministry is not meant to be carried alone. From the RH elder board to our staff structure to our serve teams within each ministry, RHMV is led by teams. This provides stronger leadership through stability, complementary strengths and weaknesses, decisions made with broader perspective, and greater accountability.
Staff
In addition to Chad and Jenn, our staff also includes Brian Hill [equipping & community life], Traci Carpenter [families], Jules Sherreitt [front door & welcome] Brandon Ezell [worship] and Wendy McMahan [City Pastor]. One of the staff’s primary roles is to raise up, train and empower volunteers at our campus.
Leadership Teams
Every ministry and team at RHMV has at least one volunteer leader at the helm. Our dedicated team of volunteers and leaders are the heartbeat of our church. They pray, serve and help shoulder the practical and spiritual weight of this wonderful community. Find out more about these teams that are helping lead our campus.
Every Believer is a Minister
We believe that every follower of Jesus has a role to play in God’s Kingdom. Each person is uniquely made and equipped for the ministry that God has put before us. From the early days, we’ve been a church led largely by people simply stepping into their role as ministers of Jesus.
In fact, if you’ve been to a weekend celebration or any other gathering of our community, you were virtually surrounded by the leaders of RHMV, and not because we have a large paid staff. As we’ve added to our staff, the primary charge given to each is to equip, lead, and support volunteer leaders, ministers and teams. We invite you to find your place in this community and to step into the unique role that God has called you to.
